Japan and China

i liek this

JAPAN & CHINA

Japan and China are both asian countries sharing many similiarities (rice! WHOOOHH), a diverse history and a very important trading and economical link that allows the two countries to be one of the biggest economies in the world. Yet their poor diplomatic relationships, propaganda and hatred toward each other still exists to this day.

Whenever my family starts a conversation involving Japan, hatred and anger is always in the atmosphere of our voices. They curse and talk about them, tell stories of the history so disturbingly intriguing that you will remember it for the rest of your life and also nickname the japanese as 'white carrot heads' (蘿白頭 Lo baat Tau). My Grandma would go on and on during after dinner talks with very detailed stories she dug out of her fuzzy memory, about the things they did when her town was under Japanese occupation and how ruthless they were.

Japan is a country immersed with a beautiful culture (YESS ANIME YASS *fangirls*) and geography, and has had a stable history spanning more than 2000 years. Ever since Japan's Emperor Hirohito made a terrible mistake on declaring an invasion on most of Asia and war on the allies, it has damaged the image of Japan and contributed to millions of casualties along with the dropping of two atomic bombs that lead to their surrender. After the war, the passion and goal of complete peace was idealised and supported by the majority of the Japanese population.

I am sure that most Japanese people are nice and friendly towards everyone given their nurturing of morals and discipline in school. I believe they were only mislead and corrupted by Hirohito during his reign. The only thing concerning me is that Japan humbly refuses to recognise and officially apologise for the atrocities done towards the people of countries they had invaded 6 decades ago. Some of my grandma's relatives were brutally shot and raped by Japanese forces during the Sino-Japanese war. It angers her even till today and she looks forward to the day where Japan will apologise officially. Their atrocities still anger much of the population of China and other asian countries and becomes even more outrageous for them when they still haven't acknowledged their past war crimes.

They even banned several history books to prevent their current generations finding out the truth and hiding their dark, national past.  However, Japanese people aren't all that bad, as there are many Japanese citizens that peacefully protest and urge the government of Japan to apologise to the countries they invaded 6 decades ago. Since governments are supposed to represent the whole nation, they are only really recognised as 'puppets of the Japanese' by countries like China.

“We are products of our past, but we don't have to be prisoners of it.” Rick Warren

On the other hand, China, a communist ruled country with a orientally diverse land (which was an ideal place to invade for Japan) and a history with military and economical prosperity spanning the reign of more than 20 dynasties, went to the extremes in denouncing Japan and reminding their nation about their atrocities that were casted many decades ago and threatens to go to war with Japan over an island. Their strict censorship has hidden many atrocities of their own and tried to lie about their image to their world, in which, they failed.

Japan and China are thriving economies that could work together and improve relations slowly . If neither forgives each other, it will just worsen relations till neither of the two countries won't forgive each other anymore. Lets face it, rape, deaths and casualties of innocent civilians, and losses are all products of war. The past is buried and can no longer be changed. You can't simply go back in time and undo everything you have done wrong. All humans can do is to apologise for their past acts, forgive one another and make up for it on behalf of their nation.

I wish that Japan and China along with the countries that were invaded by her could get along one day, Even small progress like reading the news and finding out relations between my country and Japan are friendly for once make me happy. If only humans weren't filled with ambitious intent to conquer other countries, rising tensions and a strong dislike of each other would not exist. After all, no one's perfect.

Now, time to get back on an unfinished anime episode :DDD
